Summer Term 2026 Dear Parents and Carers, The children have enjoyed lots of activities in school over the last half term. There have been visitors to the school and trips out of school all of which provide opportunities to enhance our curriculum. Next half term is also packed with events and opportunities for the children - not least all the preparations for our Year 6 pupils as they draw to the end of their Primary School Years.

Year 5 Visit to Beacon Church
Year 5 children visited Beacon Church to explore a range of Christian artefacts and learn more about the Christian faith. During the visit, they examined important objects used in worship, including the Bible, candles, the font, the altar and the cross. The children listened carefully to explanations about the meaning and purpose of each artefact and asked thoughtful questions throughout the session. What a Wonderful Show!
What a wonderful show! Our Year 4 children put on an outstanding performance of the Greatest Show this week. There were solos, group singing, ensembles, dance routines and many lines to learn and they all did a brilliant job, each and every one. Mental Health Awareness
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, the children took part in a range of activities designed to promote positive mental health and well-being, including the Mile Walk and creative classroom tasks. We also supported ‘Wear It Green Day’, where staff and children added a splash of green to their uniforms to help raise awareness of mental health and encourage open, positive conversations about well-being.

Art Club
Year 5 and 6 Art Club have been using collage techniques to create vibrant artwork inspired by Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. The children explored colour, pattern, and layering to produce bold and creative designs. They have also been learning about pop art and creating pieces in the style of Roy Lichtenstein, using bright colours, comic-style features, and expressive techniques to develop their artwork.

Year 1 Local Walk
As part of their Geography and D.T. topics, Year 1 went on a walk around the local area. For Geography, they were looking for human features in our local area including houses, shops and a church. For our D.T. Topic 'Shade and Shelter' the children will be creating their own shelter so they went on the walk to identify different types of shelters including garages, carports and sheds.

Year 1 History Workshop
Year 1's History Workshop was all about 'Toys from the Past'. Children had the opportunity to play a range of board games, explore toys from the past, make a puppet, create their own puppet show and to watch a puppet show! Year 3 Step Back in Time: A Stone Age Adventure
Year 3 had a fantastic day stepping back in time to the Stone Age, where they discovered what life was like in a Stone Age tribe. The children explored ancient cave paintings and even created their own, gaining insight into how early humans expressed themselves. They also enjoyed trying their hand at archery and learning about the clothing worn during this period. Eco Warriors in Action!
Our Eco Warriors have been making a real difference in our local community! Equipped with litter pickers and plenty of enthusiasm, the group headed out this week to take part in a litter-picking initiative. Cup Final Champions!
The Year 5/6 girls football team travelled to Millfield to play against Croft Academy in the Girls Cup Final. The girls played really well together, everyone got involved and played well as a team, winning 2 - 0. Shelby scored in the first half and then in the second half an excellent corner kick from Addison caused an own goal. Both teams played fairly and were a pleasure to watch.

Year 3 Easter Service

Cross Country Success
The Cross country club attended a meet at the Walsall Arboretum for Years 3 - 6. All runners tried their hardest and enjoyed the event in very welcome sunshine. Some well deserved sibling achievements with brothers Freddie coming 1 st in the Year 3 event and Hayden 1 st in the Year 5 event. Although mixed races, Isla-Rose was the first girl to cross the line in Year 6 and Shelby Franklin the first girl in Year 5. Well done to every single runner who took part in the race -

Easter Bonnet Parade
We had some lovely Easter bonnets on parade this week - with our Nursery event on Monday and our Reception event on Tuesday. Our Reception donned their bonnets again on Wednesday for a parade around the school - happily waving through classroom windows at our older children! Thank you for all the creations!

Division 2 Final
The Year 5/6 boys football team went to Millfield Primary to play in the Division 2 final against Bloxwich Academy. In a very closely contested game that was end to end, Hayden managed to score the only goal of the game. The game was nerve-wracking to watch but was played fairly by both teams. Thank you to the boys football team, parents for supporting, Mr Rosser for accompanying and Mr Wheelwright for training. Massive congratulations!

Year 4 Fire Safety Workshop
Fire officers visited our Year 4 class to deliver the SPARKS programme. During the session, the children learned about the common causes of fires and discussed practical ways to prevent them in everyday situations.
