Autumn Term 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

Summer seems like a distant memory as we wonder where this term had gone! It has been a long and busy Autumn term, packed with events and activities. The highlights have been the Reception Nativity, Year 1 Harvest presentation, our Christmas Fayre, our many workshops for pupils and trips out for Reception, Year 1 and Year 5, the success of our sporting events and of course our Year 5 Carol Service today. It has been lovely our families join us for these events and it is also lovely to see the growing confidence in our children and the smiles on their faces. These events enrich the curriculum and allow education to take place both inside and outside the classroom.
Â
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support over the term - for your kind words and recognition of the hard work of our staff, as well as for the support you give to your children every day.
Â
On behalf of all of us at Pheasey, we wish you and your families a peaceful, festive season.

Year 5 Christmas Carol Service at Beacon Church
Well done to our Year 5 pupils and the School Choir for a wonderful Christmas Carol Service this
morning at Beacon Church. Despite the sniffs, coughs, colds and absences the children spoke and sang beautifully.
This service is a firm favourite of all of the staff - the beautiful 'O Holy Night' and the children’s rendition of ’When a Child is Born’ are so heart-warming to hear.
Thank you to all children and Staff involved in making this such a positive message about the story of Christmas and thank you to Poppy and Anna for our programme designs!

Reception trip to Statfold Barn
Children in Reception had a great day at Statfold Barn. We spent the morning having a festive train ride, writing our Christmas lists, making gingerbread men and having a go on fair rides.
After lunch, children had some time to play in the soft play before going to visit Santa where they each received a lovely gift each.

School Council visit to the Mayor's Parlour
Pheasey Park Farm School Council visited the Mayor of Walsall at the mayor's parlour in the council house last week. Children learnt about the history of Walsall and the city council and they heard about how the mayor runs the council today. Children even got the opportunity to sit in the mayor’s seat in the main chamber! Each child was given a goodie bag from the mayor to remember this special visit.Â

Toy donations - Just WOW!
Thank you to all our children and families who made a toy donation this year - you all did SO well!
Mrs Francis loaded them all into her car and took then to Beacon Church, ready to be collected and taken to a local refuge.
Rev Chris was 'chuffed' with how much school had collected on behalf of the Refuge. They hadn't had many donations this year until he collected from Beacon Church and School on behalf of the local community. They can now help so many children and families who are having a difficult time this Christmas.Â
Thank you so, so much!

Christmas Fayre
We had a lovely time at the beginning of December hosting our annual Christmas Fayre! Despite the downpour, it was a full house - with performances from our choir and our KS1 and KS2 Dance Clubs, lots of stalls to visit, face painting, decoration activities and of course, a visit to Santa!
Thank you - together we raised £1977.61 - all of which will be spent on the children and enhancing their curriculum with opportunities such as workshops and visitors. Thank you to Mrs Brisband for organising the event for us all to enjoy!
Reception Performance - A Little Nativity

Last week, our Reception children performed their version of ’A Little Nativity’ to their families and friends.
They spoke confidently and clearly and remembered all their actions and dances.
Their singing was beautiful.
The children looked wonderful in their costumes and we know that this will have made some special memories for both children and adults.
Every year children have an opportunity to perform or present to parents and you will see their confidence grow year on year. Well done children!
Christmas Mobile Prize Winners
We had some wonderful entries for our Christmas mobile competition this year! The children were very creative with their designs and they have decorated our school over the festive period. Prizes were presented in this weeks Achievement Assembly.

Competition winners - Storm 93AR and Isaac (2KW)
Second place - Soul (3AR)
Third place - Aaira - (RVE)
Eco Code Winner

This term, the Eco Warriors launched the Eco Code competition. The Eco Code is a mission statement that identifies our school’s environmental values. Well done to everyone who took part in the Eco Code competition – all the entries were fantastic, and it was very difficult to choose a winner!
Â
The Eco Warriors decided the winner was Arya in 5DR. Congratulations to Arya – her Eco code is shown here. This will be displayed in all rooms around school from the Spring term.
Household Support Fund
Central government have provided local authorities with funding through the Household Support Scheme. This is to support households on a low income with food and utilities whilst the cost of living is increasing. Current funding covers the period from April 2025 to March 2026.
This has been used to support our most vulnerable families.
Around 15 December 2025 the local authority will make a one-off direct payment of £75 per child to families in receipt of Council Tax Reduction. Families will not need to apply for these payments. This is to support families over the holiday period. From April 2026 the Household Support Fund is being replaced by a Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF). They will provide further information around this once the details are confirmed. More information can be found here
Online safety over Christmas
We are seeing an increasing number of issues in school which stem from activities online whilst at home. This is often as a result of children falling out with each other whilst gaming or on social media platforms such as Snapchat, WhatsApp and Roblox.. Parents may not realise the age limits on these platforms - Snapchat is 13 yrs or over and WhatsApp is actually 16 years. Whilst we will always investigate matters to ensure children are safeguarded online, it is parents' responsibility to monitor devices and phones at home to ensure children are using them responsibly and respectfully.
Below is a SWAY link which contains some important messages to ensure children are safe online over the Christmas period.Â
Online Scam Awareness for Neurodivergent children from Internet Matters
Online scams like trust trades and fake giveaways can cause harm and upset to all children, but neurodivergent children are at greater risk of falling victim to scams.
Internet Matters have worked with Ambitious about Autism and Roblox to create new resources to help families with neurodivergent children learn and stay safe from scams within games.
There’s a guide for parents, a video for children and young people, plus stories for families to read and discuss together to explore the risks, with practical actions for children to take to help stay protected
Find all the resources here.

Just a reminder - no dogs are permitted on school site.Â
Winter infections in children – guidance for parents/guardians
What are the symptoms?
There are two groups of symptoms:
• Diarrhoea and vomiting – usually lasting 1-2 days
• Fever, tiredness, runny nose, cough and sore throat – lasting 3-4 days
What should I do if my child is unwell?
• If your child has diarrhoea and/or vomiting symptoms, they should not attend nursery/school until they have been symptom free (usually for 48 hours if related to a bug)
• If your child has a high temperature and is unwell, they should stay at home and return to school once they have recovered.
Children with mild symptoms like runny nose, sore throat, or mild cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to attend school.
• Ensure they drink plenty of fluids – taking sips rather than gulps, to avoid vomiting
• If they have a fever – give child paracetamol and/or ibuprofen, according to manufacturer’s instructions. Your local pharmacist can also advise you about the best treatment for your child
• If your child is unusually sleepy, can’t take fluids or has other symptoms, such as an unusual rash, headache or neck stiffness – seek medical advice immediately
Infection control advice
Handwashing is one of the most important ways to prevent the spread of both of these infections. This applies to the child who is ill and the person caring for them. Hands should be washed using soap and rinsed under running water:
• Before and after caring for the child
• After using the toilet
• Before eating, preparing or handling food
• After cleaning up spills (vomit, diarrhoea or urine)
• Also – keep a separate towel for each family member who has symptoms, and change them regularly
• Dry hands thoroughly
Other control measures:
• Cover nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue if possible – dispose of used tissues immediately and wash hands
• Wash soiled clothing, bed linen and towels at 60oC, using detergent – if possible, wear disposable gloves to handle contaminated items
• Surfaces and touch points (taps, toilet flush handle, door handles) should be cleaned then disinfected with bleach based cleaner
• Check that your child is up to date with their NHS vaccinations schedule.
For further information, visit NHS.uk and search for ‘respiratory infections’ and ‘diarrhoea and vomiting'.
Thank you from Children in Need

Year 5/6 Athletics
A Year 5/6 girls and boys athletics team went to Streetly Academy last week to take part in a Sports Hall Athletics event. Everyone tried their hardest, performed really well and above all, enjoyed the event. They competed against 4 other schools and results will be announced in a few days time.
