Spring Term 2026

Dear Parents and Carers
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Just a short newsletter today to say Happy New Year to all our families and welcome back to school. We hope you all had a lovely break over the Christmas period and that you made some lovely memories with your children. It has been a cold start to the year but the children have come back well motivated and ready to learn.
We are aware that there was some disruption to the roads around the school this morning due to the snow/ice, however hopefully this was all resolved by the end of the day and you had safe journeys home. Thank you to all families for bearing with us this morning as we changed some of the routes into the main school building - this was in order to provide the safest arrival for you and your children. We will be keeping a close eye on the weather over the coming days and any information/updates will be sent to families via the Arbor App. If the weather conditions on our site mean that we would need to implement a school closure, parents would be notified via Arbor, through Class Dojo and on our website and a decision is usually made by 7:00am on the day. However, we are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather is kind!
The Spring Term is always very busy and packed with events, visitors, visits and workshops which all add to the wider curriculum. Please check the dates below so that you know the important ones that are relevant to you. Parents/Carer consultations will be coming up this half term as well as our annual Dance Festival!
Please could you check your Arbor accounts to make sure they are up to date - both with the details we hold for you, in particular emergency contact numbers, and also to check there is no outstanding money owed.
We hope you all have a lovely week.
Mrs Arnold

School Dinners and Tuck - changes to catering
As you will be aware from our previous letter to parents, the provision for your child’s school meals is now provided by Miquills School Catering Services – a local catering business that also provides meals for the other schools in our Trust.
For children, there are no changes to lunchtime arrangements or cost. The difference for your child will be the nutritional content of the food – with meals being cooked from scratch and an improved menu of choices. Menus will continue to be published for parents/carers to see and we are hoping to provide some taster sessions for families to be able to come along and taste the food for themselves.
Unfortunately, due to the weather, we have had some delivery issues today which led to some changes to the published menu and a slight delay for lunch. We are assured that this has now been rectified.
Because of this change in provision, we are no longer be able to offer the purchase of tuck for our pupils. This service has come to an end.
We know that some parents have relied on this, particularly where children have not had the opportunity to have breakfast, so for now we will offer toast to all pupils from Reception to Year 6 - free of charge - as they come into school in the morning. All KS1 pupils will continue to be offered a free piece of fruit or vegetables at breaktime.
The only items children are permitted to bring into school for snacks at breaktimes are items of fruit or vegetables. As a reminder, the only drink children should have in school, other than in a packed lunch, is water – to which they have free access and can refill their water bottle throughout the day.
