On Thursday 5th March, the children celebrated World Book Day at school. The day aimed to increase children’s love of reading while giving them the opportunity to share their favourite authors and books with others.
This year’s theme was ‘Diversity’, with a special focus on poetry and promoting the enjoyment of reading for all children. Pupils came to school dressed as their favourite book characters, and it was wonderful to see the wide range of imaginative and colourful costumes.
Children were also encouraged to bring in a book by their favourite author to share with their classmates and teachers. Throughout the day, there were opportunities for both younger and older pupils to share their books with one another, helping them discover new stories and authors.
The day was designed to encourage children to celebrate and share their love of reading. Developing a passion for reading is fundamental to academic progress and helps deepen children’s understanding of the world around them.
