Please note the dates below for school terms next year as well as INSET days. ~Please remember that we are unable to authorise holidays in term time therefore please book holidays around these dates - this will avoid children losing learning time and parents/carers receiving fines (this is currently £80 per parent per child). Schools do not receive the payments for fines - this is paid directly to Walsall Council.

Year 1 - local walk

As part of their Geography and D.T. topics, Year 1 went on a walk around the local area. For Geography, they were looking for human features in our local area including houses, shops and a church. For our D.T. Topic 'Shade and Shelter' the children will be creating their own shelter so they went on the walk to identify different types of shelters including garages, carports and sheds.

Sun Protection

We are coming into our warmer months now and therefore we wanted to remind parents about sun protection. Please apply sunscreen (SPF 20+) before schools, make sure your child has a labelled bottle of water and a hat.

Please see below for the sun protection measures used or encouraged by School:

Clothing

  • Children are encouraged to wear protective clothing during the summer term. School uniform is made from fabrics with a close weave, and includes polo shirts, longer style dresses and shorts. PE kit includes the requirement for t-shirts to be worn; no vest style tops are permitted

  • Children are encouraged to wear wide-brimmed hats (6-10 cm) or caps that protect their face, neck and ears, when they are outside in hot, sunny weather.

  • Sunglasses are not to be worn in school due to health and safety restrictions (unless prescribed by an optician)

Sunscreen

  • Covering up and seeking shade are the most important sun protection measures. In addition, sunscreen can provide protection to exposed skin.

  • Each pupil will be encouraged to apply sunscreen before school starts – SPF 20 or above

  • Children may then reapply themselves for any prolonged outdoor school related activities.

  • Children may only use their own sunscreen.

  • Parents/Carers are asked to teach their children how to sensibly use and apply these screens and should clearly label them and put them in their child’s bag for their own use.

Shade

  • Children are encouraged to make use of available shaded areas when outside.

Drinking Water

  • Children are encouraged to increase their water intake in hot weather and are encouraged to drink water during break times and lunch times.

  • Every child should bring a labelled refillable water bottle to school every day.

Year 1 History Workshop - Toys from the Past

Year 1's History Workshop was all about 'Toys from the Past'. They had the opportunity to play a range of board games, explore toys from the past, make a puppet,

create their own puppet show and to watch a puppet show!

There was lots of learning that the children will be able to apply during their History topic 'Childhood'.

Year 3 History Workshop - The Stone Age

Year 3 had a fantastic day stepping back in time to the Stone Age, where they discovered what life was like in a Stone Age tribe. The children explored ancient cave paintings and even created their own, gaining insight into how early humans expressed themselves. They also enjoyed trying their hand at archery and learning about the clothing worn during this period. The children explored bones too, discovering how Stone Age people used them to create tools and jewellery. It was an exciting, hands-on experience that brought history to life and deepened their understanding of the Stone Age.

Eco Warriors - helping the local community!

Our Eco Warriors have been making a real difference in our local community! Equipped with litter pickers and plenty of enthusiasm, the group headed out this week to take part in a litter-picking initiative.

The children showed fantastic teamwork and determination as they worked together to clean up the streets!

We are proud of their efforts and the positive example they are setting. Well done, Eco Warriors - your actions truly make a difference!

Girls football

The Year 5/6 girls football team travelled to Millfield to play against Croft Academy in the Girls Cup Final. The girls played really well together, everyone got involved and played well as a team, winning 2 -0. Shelby scored in the first half and then in the second half an excellent corner kick from Addison caused an own goal.  Both teams played fairly and were a pleasure to watch.

Well done Amayah!

Amayah competed at the WKO ARNOLDS SPORTS UK INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in 27-29TH March. She smashed it - with an amazing performance on both competition days finishing with double gold! She also got involved with lots of challenges over the weekend winning prizes and was lucky enough to meet Cyclone and Nytro from the Gladiators too!

Amayah is the number 1 ranked 10 year old female in the UK for her age and weight division - well done!
