School News - 26th June 2026

Summer Term 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

The weather has dominated the school this week. After our lovely Reception/Nursery Sports Day at the start of the week, we have had to reschedule the remaining events and put measures in place to support the children through the heatwave.

We are so proud of the children - their behaviour has been exceptional despite the heat - and they have been very sensible in following all directives to help themselves and each other keep cool.

Our staff have gone over and above to keep your children safe and this has been throughout the school day.

Following careful consideration, we took the decision not to close our school. Measures in place meant that it was manageable to keep the children safe and as comfortable as possible. Earlier dismissal for some children in the afternoons, when the temperatures increased, meant that there were more areas of the school we could use to stay cool.

Thank you - to all the parents who collected children earlier when they could and understood that the dismissal of many, many children at different times would not be instant. While we appreciate the support of most families, we regret that a few parents expressed dissatisfaction regarding the waiting times on Wednesday as we were putting new procedures in place.

The majority of families were fully supportive however and we really appreciate the positive feedback we have had - thank you.

Mrs Arnold and all the staff

Mental health book donations

Thank you to Hannah Cook the Usborne Representative who has kindly donated a book bundle of books about mental health. These will be available to borrow from the library very soon.

We are extremely grateful to all the children who took part in the sponsored read, 'Ready, Steady, Read' with Usborne books.

The children have received certificates and prizes with Michael winning a special book prize as he logged the most amount of minutes reading.

The money has been spent on library books to support the curriculum and learning, reading for pleasure books, plus some books from the suggestions the children requested.

Here is a selection as an example of the books purchased with the sponsor money.
