Spring Term 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all parents and carers for your support at events over this half term so far. It does seem very busy!

Next week we celebrate Red Nose Day on Friday and children can wear a red item for school and they will learn about the work of this excellent charity. A separate letter has been sent out regarding this.

Well done to our Girls Football team who won their Semi Final this week and are now through to the finals! The boys play their semi finals next week and we will keep you up to date with how both teams get on in our next newsletter!

Please can parents ensure that children come to school in the correct uniform - either their winter uniform or their PE uniform on a PE day. We have seen some children attending school wearing hoodies/fleeces/sweatshirts as part of their school uniform - this is not permitted and children will be asked to remove these items in class. For PE, we only allow a sweatshirt - not items with hoods or zips for health and safety reasons. We will send a separate letter out about our uniform next week so that all parents are clear on our Uniform Policy and have plenty of time before September to ensure the correct items are purchased. Please also ensure all uniform items are labelled with your child's name so misplaced clothing can easily be returned to its owner.

Some issues have cropped up between some of our older children recently which have stemmed from inappropriate use of Snapchat on phones. Further down this newsletter we have added a Parental Guidance sheet which gives some helpful advice around this platform.

Have a lovely weekend

Year 1 English – Sandwich Making

As part of our English unit linked to ‘Paddington at the Palace’, Year 1 children made marmalade sandwiches before writing instructions of how to make them.

As you can see, they thoroughly enjoyed making them (and eating them!)

Muay Thai - World Champion!

Pheasey Park Farm has a new amateur Muay Thai world champion - Amayah in Year 4.

At the start of March, she took part in a World Open tournament in Great Yarmouth - achieving 1st place!

She also got second place in a higher age category putting her into the top 10 individuals of the whole tournament. This was her first time competing in an event like this - what an achievement!!

Well done Amayah and thank you for bringing your belt into school for us to see.

Science Aviation Assembly and Competition - Year 5 and 6

Year 5 and 6 took part in an Aviation assembly recently as part of our learning of STEM careers. In the assembly, the children met a pilot, an air-traffic controller and a radio engineer who spoke about their day-to-day roles and the skills needed to work in their fields. After the assembly, the children were tasked with creating posters which promoted diversity within aviation.

We are very proud to say that we had a winner! Maham was the overall national winner which is a fantastic achievement. We also had two commendable entries by Jessica and Lilia - well done!

We also won the best overall school!

Holiday and Food Programme (HAF)

What is the Holiday Activity and Food programme (HAF)?

HAF is a free programme for children and young people. It runs over Easter, Summer and Christmas school holidays.

Your child is eligible if they are:

  • aged 5 to 16

  • eligible for benefit-related free school meals

The programme works with providers to develop an exciting and enriching programme of activities. These include schools, local voluntary and community groups, childcare providers and local businesses.

Programme aims

We want children who attend this provision to:

  • eat healthily over the school holidays

  • be active during the school holidays - take part in activities which support their development and wider educational attainment

  • be safe and not to be socially isolated

  • have a greater knowledge of health and nutrition

  • be more engaged with school and other local services

Walsall use a central registration process to make it easier for you to book your child/ren onto activities. This means you only have to provide your information once.

This information is shared with the activity providers.

This is so that they:

  • know who will be attending

  • can meet your child’s needs

  • can communicate with you about the activity

How to register for the HAF programme

You can register throughout the year.

Before each delivery, the Council will send a letter to your home address with a unique code and information about how to register. If you haven't received a letter or have the wrong code, email them with your child's full name and address, and they can help you.

You only need to register once for the 2025-2026 programme, and you can access your account throughout the year.

The booking portal is open from Tuesday 11 March and will close on Friday 11 April

Maths Mastery - PACT Workshops in Year 3

Thank you to all parents and carers who attended the Year 3 Pact Workshops last week. It was great to have the opportunity to explain to parents how we teach maths mastery in school. It was also lovely to see children being able to work alongside their 'adults' and sharing their learning.

Feedback from parents was very positive and we will now roll out a similar event for Year 2.
