Spring Term 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

We hope you had a lovely weekend - however you decided to spend it. We have a very busy couple of weeks coming up in school before we break up for Easter. This includes school discos this week, Comic Relief/Red Nose Day this Friday, Easter Bonnet celebrations and an Easter Presentation at Beacon Church for Year 3.

Thank you for all your recent support with children coming in dressed as TTRockstars and characters from books. Please know that there is never an expectation for families to go out and purchase expensive items, we love seeing home made costumes where families have had the time to do so. We will be starting a donation station for costumes which will be a way for items to be reused and help families with the cost - particularly where there are a number of siblings!

Good luck to our Year 5/6 boys football team who are taking part in the division finals on Friday!

Have a lovely week ahead!

Year 6 Residential

What an incredible three days our Year 6 pupils had on their residential visit to Laches Wood!

Throughout the trip, the children were put to the test, stepping out of their comfort zones  – and what resilience they showed! Whether they were conquering their fears or encouraging their friends, their determination and positive attitudes were fantastic.

They demonstrated wonderful teamwork, courage and growing confidence while taking part in activities such as abseiling, crate stacking, climbing and caving!  It was wonderful to see them supporting one another, celebrating successes and persevering when things felt tricky.

A fantastic three days filled with laughter, challenge and amazing memories that will stay with them for years to come. We are so proud of you, Year 6!

PE Uniform

It has become evident that an increasing number of children are not adhering to our PE uniform policy. We expect children to adhere to the PE uniform policy if they wish to wear it throughout the school day.

Our PE uniform is deliberately very simple and easy to obtain – it consists of a logo white t-shirt and navy shorts with white or black trainers. Children will also require a pair of plain navy jogging bottoms or plain navy leggings.

If children are coming to school without the correct uniform, parents will be contacted and children should come to school thereafter in school uniform until the correct PE items are obtained. Children would then change in school.

Both Trust staff and School staff would like to stress how much importance we attach to the wearing of school uniform. Children feel proud and develop a sense of belonging to the school community when wearing the school uniform.

If you require any support with the cost of school uniform, please contact school.

Numbers Day

On Friday 6th February, school was filled with Rockstars, Numberblocks and all things number related as staff and pupils dressed up in celebration of Numbers Day. During key stage assemblies, children learnt about the importance of Maths, what it means to be a mathematician and how having a positive mindset towards Maths and being resilient will help them to succeed. Pupils also learnt about some famous mathematicians and about various careers that mathematical knowledge is essential for, such as engineering and healthcare.

In addition to their daily maths lessons, pupils in years 2-6 took part in a battle on TTRockstars, while pupils in Y1 engaged in a Numbots session; Reception pupils watched episodes of Numberblocks that complemented their recent learning while Nursery engaged with Ten Town and had several maths related activities out as part of their provision.

£348.95 was raised through pupils’ donations and this money will be used to further enhance resources in school to support teaching and learning. Thank you to all staff, parents and pupils for making such an effort with costumes and for kindly contributing donations on what was a fun-filled day!

Year 5/6 Boys Football - A Semi Final Win!

On Tuesday afternoon the Year 5/6 boys football team went to Castlefort to play in the Division 2 semi-finals.

In the first 10 minutes we were losing 2-0 but by half time the boys managed to pull it back to 2-2. In the second half Hayden scored to win the game in a very close, competitive contest. Well done all!

World Book Day

On Thursday 5th March, children and staff dressed up as their favourite book character to celebrate and raise funds for World Book Day!  The children brought their favourite stories into school, shared books with children from different year groups and had assemblies based on WBD when they were all able to see each others costumes!

Children in Year 1 and Year 3 shared stories . Year 1 have been reading Paddington books and made marmalade sandwiches last week to help them write instructions to make Paddington's favourite marmalade sandwiches!

Eat them to defeat them

As an incentive to get children to eat healthier, we have joined the Eat Them to Defeat Them campaign. It focuses on 5 core vegetables: corn, tomatoes, peas, peppers and carrots.

Children will have had an assembly about this campaign and will have brought a sticker chart home. When they eat one of the vegetables they can place a sticker in the box and when it is full, they can return to school - closing date for entries is the 17th April and all completed charts will be entered for a prize drawer to receive a Lego prize!

Our lunchtime supervisors will also have stickers to give to the children once they have ‘defeated’ one of those vegetables.

Sponsored Read

The school is celebrating the National Year of Reading by running a Sponsored Read from Monday 23rd March to Sunday 29th March 2026. The event is in partnership with the school’s local Usborne representative, Hannah Cook, and aims to raise money for brand‑new books for the school.

For every £600 raised, Usborne will donate an additional £360 in free books. The school’s target is to raise £600, giving a total of £960 worth of books and resources to support the library, classroom book corners, curriculum topics, and free‑reader selections.

Children can read anything with words - books, comics, recipes, websites, newspapers, etc. - and the child who reads the most minutes over the week will win a prize. All participants will receive a certificate.

Pupils will bring home a sponsorship form and a reading log. These, along with the sponsor money, must be returned no later than Friday 17th April 2026.
