Spring Term 2023 ` Friday 27th January 2023

Dear Parents and Carers, Over the past 2 weeks we have had a number of visitors in school - including Timezones for History, NSPCC for ’Keeping Safe’ assemblies and the Canal and River Trust to support learning about safety and wildlife around water. Timezones will be back on 10th February for the Year 4 Greek Day. The children have been active with football and cross country and our Badgeholders have led assemblies for their houses. We also had a visiting Theatre group who put on a wonderful performance of ‘Cinderella’ for children in Years 2-5. Don’t forget, this weekend is the Big Garden Bird Watch where we are asking children to record the number of birds visiting their garden or park over a 1 hour period. Throughout the Big Garden Birdwatch long weekend, the RSPB will be hosting Big Garden Birdwatch Live on their YouTube channel.

Y5 Timezones Anglo Saxons and Vikings

We had Timezones in this week to work with our Year 5 children. They took part in a range of activities and learned about what life was like for the Saxons. Children said it was ‘a fantastic day!’

Football News

Both our girls and boys football teams have been active this week. On Monday, both teams played away at Millfield Primary. The boys played well especially as they are a relatively newly formed team and won 6-1. The girls team, although a strong side and had more of the possession, lost 3-0. Yesterday afternoon the Year 5/6 boys football team played against Leighswood at home. We had a lot of possession and played well but unfortunately couldn't score any goals from it and the final score was 3 - 0 to Leighswood.

Cross Country Event

We had 20 of our Key Stage 2 children taking part in a Cross Country event at Aldridge Airport yesterday morning and Mr Rosser was very impressed by the standard of running - there were some excellent times! In the Year 4 race, Arlo achieved 1st Place with Kailen finishing 2nd. In the Year 5 race Mason came 6th and Ruby finished in 8th place. In the Year 6 race we had another winner with Theo gaining 1st place. All the children ran their best, with many really feeling it at the end. Well done to you all and thank you for representing Pheasey so well!

Parent SATs Workshops

Thank you to all those who attended our parent workshops last week. We know these will have been really useful. Thank you for your feedback. We will contact parents individually where additional information has been requested.

Canal and River Trust Sessions

On Thursday, Y1 and Y3 children took part in a workshop delivered by The Canal and River Trust. The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and made bug hotels, learned about rivers and canals and made seed balls to create wild flowers for insects - all within our own Nature Area

Apple air tags/Smart Watches

Please note that we do not allow Apple Air tags to be used in school. With Smart watches, if children do wear these, please make sure they are on silent and not able to receive any notifications. Ideally, these would not be worn on swimming or PE days as they need to be removed for these activities.
