Autumn Term 2025

Dear Parents and Carers
Back to school this week after half term - we hope you all had fun during the week and enjoyed activities such as pumpkin carving, trick or treating, fireworks for Diwali, seeing family and friends.
This half term is always really busy and there will be lots of activities for your children and yourselves - please keep an eye on the important dates lower down the newsletter. As you will be aware from messages this week, moving forward communication will be sent via Arbor not SMS messages through Teachers2Parents (T2P). To avoid missing any information, please ensure you have turned on notifications for the Arbor App. If you do not use the App, you will instead receive an email to alert you to the message on the Parent Portal accessible via the webpage. Sending communication this way will enable all Primary Guardians to receive messages rather than limited to 1 contact as it was previously was on T2P. If you would like a second Primary Guardian added and they do not already receive messages, please contact school so we can verify information with you to set this up.
One last thing! All children should now be wearing full winter uniform -
Navy cardigan or jumper with logo
Sky blue shirt or blouse with tie
Plain grey skirt, pinafore or tailored trousers
Navy, sky blue and gold striped tie (elasticated up to Year 3)
Plain and flat black formal school shoes
Plain black, white, navy or grey tights or socks.
Please see our website for the full uniform policy.
Have a lovely weekend and keep safe if you are visiting any bonfires/fireworks displays.

Barr Beacon Remembrance Event
Our Year 6 Badge holders proudly represented our school at the Remembrance Wreath Laying Ceremony at Barr Beacon War Memorial this morning. The event was led by the Mercian and Staffordshire Volunteer Regimental Associations and supported by the Barr Beacon Trust. The children had a memorable experience, learning about the importance of remembrance and the significance of honouring our fallen soldiers.

On Tuesday, all children will be taking part in the 2 minute silence.
Community Bonfire and Launch of the Youth and Community Coffee Shop
A local community event you may like to pop along to - Beacon Church is holding a Bonfire Party next Saturday. As well as this, it is the launch of the new Youth and Community Coffee Shop - the 3:16 Coffee - which is really exciting for those living in the local area.

Children in Need
Next Friday sees the national Children in Need Day and we will be celebrating this in school as usual.
During our school assemblies, pupils will learn about some of the invaluable work that Children in Need do. We want pupils to understand that in the UK and across the world, there are children who are struggling and that in many ways, they are very lucky and may take things for granted sometimes.
To raise money, we are inviting children to take part in our Non-Uniform Day on Friday, 14th November and to bring in a £1.00 cash donation - a separate letter has been sent about this.
Please note: clothing must still be appropriate for a school environment - low cut tops/tops revealing midriffs are not permitted and our usual health and safety rules apply regarding jewellery and hair.
All the money raised from our Non-Uniform Day will be donated to Children in Need on behalf of the children, parents, staff and governors of the school.
Health Packed Lunches
Parents have asked for information about how to make school packed lunches as health as possible. Please see the poster below which has information on regarding balanced healthy lunches and further information can be found on the following link:

Parking
As the weather is getting colder and wetter and the nights are drawing in, there is an increase in the amount of cars parking in the roads around our school. We know that all school roads are busy at arrival and dismissal times - and ours is no different - however please can we request that you are courteous to local residents. It causes lots of frustrations when residents driveways are blocked by parents cars - many of them need to leave the house for their own work, school commitments and appointments. We have, and will continue to, contact the local Council and Traffic Enforcement Officers regarding these difficulties.
Music Mark

We are delighted to have achieved the Music Mark again from Walsall Music Education Service. This is an award that recognises the value that we place on music in our school. Thank you to Mr Orbell, our Music Leader, Mrs Eveson, Mrs Vardy and all other staff that deliver Music in school and produce the many musical events that we have as part of our curriculum and in addition to the curriculum!

Year 6 Art
In Year 6, pupils have been enjoying creating abstract art using line work and colour! Here are a couple of examples of work they have created:
Cash for Clothes
Thank you to all those who donated towards our Cash for Clothes collection. We raised £82.80 which will be spent on the children.
