We hope you have had a wonderful summer holiday and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

In Reception, we are active learners. Throughout the autumn term, we will support your child in settling into their new environment and routines while introducing them to a wide range of exciting learning opportunities. Children will have many opportunities to develop their curiosity, critical thinking and independence through exploration and active learning. This approach will continue throughout their time in Reception.

For more information about your child's learning, please see our Curriculum Overview.

Throughout the year, children will experience a balance of adult-led and child-initiated learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is an important part of our curriculum. Please ensure your child comes to school with suitable outdoor clothing for the weather conditions each day, for example, a coat in cooler or wet weather and a sun hat during warmer weather.

P.E

Your child will have a PE lesson each week. On PE days, children should come to school wearing their full PE kit, in line with the uniform guidelines shared in your induction pack and available on the school website.

Reception PE Day: Monday

Please note that, in line with health and safety guidance, earrings must not be worn on PE days. Children who are wearing earrings will not be able to take part in PE.

Uniform and Personal Belongings

We kindly ask that all of your child's belongings are clearly labelled with their name.Jewellery should not be worn in school, with the exception of small stud earrings.

Food and Drink
Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school every day. We ask that bottles are not made of metal, as these can be heavy for young children to carry. Water bottles should contain water only.Morning toast will continue to be available until the close of the register, and children will also be offered a piece of fruit for their morning snack. A separate letter regarding school milk will be sent out shortly.

Working Together
We are looking forward to a happy, successful and fun-filled year of learning, building positive relationships with all children and working closely with families. Over the coming weeks, we will share information about a range of parent workshops designed to support you in helping your child's learning at home.

Doors will open at 8:40am. REP will enter straight into their classrooms. RJW and RNV will enter and exit through the Reception doors (between Nursery and 1MW). Children will be dismissed at 3:15.

If you have any questions or concerns, we operate an open-door policy, so please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Reception team at drop-off or collection.
